From My Heart

I started Mama Lina Sicilina with the hopes of sharing my experiences as a modern mother while balancing life with a very traditional family. Along the way it has turned into something so much more! 

My Italian heritage is something I hold truly deep in my heart. It is a part of every aspect of my life. Growing up I listened to my grandparents tell stories of their parents. They talked of their journeys here to America from Sicily, their struggles and triumphs once they arrived. I watched as my grandparents began to pass away and my parents then became the story tellers. 

Then something tragic happened. My Father passed away at the young age of 58. Something you will hear me talk about often here. I quickly realized that as my parent’s generation ages, my generation is next in line. We are the storytellers. Myself,  my siblings, my cousins, my husband, my generation. It is our responsibility to carry on these stories and these memories. A memory only truly stays alive when it’s talked about! We must never stop talking about the ones that came before us. 

This place has given me a platform to talk about these things and to carry these stories on. To share life experiences that can bring true meaning to our lives. I hope that in this process you find something that will spark joy and happiness in your own life.
