I‘m so glad you’ve found Mama Lina Sicilina!

My name is Angela but my Grandfather has always called me Angelina. With a special emphasis on the i, Angeliiina! My Grandpa is my true inspiration for this blog.

He recently celebrated his 96th birthday! His parents came to America in the very early 1900s from Lentini, Sicily. They brought a 1-year-old son who would later pass away shortly after their arrival. They would go on to have 5 daughters and 1 more son, my Grandfather.

I did a lot of ancestry research on my Grandfather’s side of the family. He didn’t have much information about his family besides his parents and siblings and when they came to America. I found some incredible things and I will share them soon! Above you can see the ship manifest from my Great-Grandfather’s journey from Sicily.

Anyway, I’m a Wife and Mother to a beautiful son. My husband is also Italian, even more than me! We are raising our son to know and honor his ancestral roots.

For a 13 month old, right now this just means teaching him all the Italian words my husband and I grew up hearing. Calling his belly his bonza and pasta sauce, sugu!

I love everything about being a mother and caretaker, homemaker, home engineer, whatever you like to call it. I like to find joy in simple things like delicious food, good wine and making special memories with my family. My hope is to share these things with all of you here!
